Development of a style according to a photo and a sketch: a video lesson on modeling

Starting to design a style for a particular product, you sometimes look through hundreds of photos and only one or two gets stuck in your mind.

I have always admired Nakamishchi Takomo's designs and one of his pieces literally stuck in my head so seriously that I decided to design a dress style based on this bodice...

As you probably already know from my articles on modeling, when developing a style, you need to take into account the properties of the fabric from which the product is supposed to be sewn, the technological sequence of processing, processing methods and their complexity ...

In a word, you need to consider EVERYTHING!

It will be a dress with a semi-sun skirt.

I'll try to "dilute" the skirt with a strip of soft regilin.

You have already encountered soft regilin in my video master class on sewing skirts "sun". With him, the bottom was processed to give rigidity.

But now I will dwell on the details of the development of the bodice.

I have two matching bases for a close-fitting silhouette to model this style: a base with a dart at the waist and a base with a side dart. Of course, you can choose other basic patterns for modeling. Still, the result will be the same.

I want the dress to have a false zipper on the middle seam at the back - false zippers have been in trend for the third season!

Because of the zipper, the collar must be in two pieces. And because of the thickness and looseness of the fabric, it should not be made into a shirt. Therefore, I will make a one-piece rack.

Then, I will cut the shelf for transferring the tuck and open the tuck for storage.

As mentioned earlier, I will have a semi-sun skirt with an insert of soft regilin. How this is done, I will show directly when cutting in one of the following video lessons on the cutting technique.

The sleeve is narrow, its length is three quarters.

A turn-down collar on a one-piece stand - it will visually look like a shirt collar.

Another little surprise awaits you about the collar, but more on that another time.
