On the way of those who are engaged in tailoring with their own hands, there are many difficulties associated with obtaining false information on Internet resources created by people who have little understanding of tailoring and sewing.
If you want to learn how to sew, start by taking measurements, but learn to take measurements in the cutting system that you will cut, as each system and each teacher presents this lesson in his own way.
Of course, in any case, you will have to remember all the designations and the very procedure for taking measurements.
Usually this boring and uninteresting activity is skipped and this is the first omission of amateur tailors.
(To catch up, see the article "How to take measurements")
The second omission of beginners is the neglect of wet-heat treatment (WTO), that is, ironing.
The product should be ironed throughout the entire sewing process.
More precisely, each crosslinked fragment must be subjected to an HTO.
Modeling errors when building patterns
Let us dwell in this article on the most favorite topic of novice couturiers - modeling.
And I was inspired to reveal this topic by one terrible material that I constantly stumble upon on social networks.
So, we have the simplest example of modeling a child's dress based on an extended silhouette.
We are offered to turn the pattern and draw two lines for cuts (picture 1):
- Mistake one: you DO NOT NEED to make a pattern in a spread, since unfolded patterns are used only for an asymmetric cut.
- The second mistake for such folds is that the pattern DOES NOT NEED TO CUT at all.
- And the error is probable: it seems to me, what's in the photo, proposed by the author to illustrate this disgrace, shows a model with one soft counter warehouse in the center of the neck of the shelf. I will talk about her later.
It would be correct to refuse to cut the finished patterns into pieces altogether and limit ourselves to adding an allowance for folds when cutting (picture 2).
In this case, two layout options are possible: back with a middle seam - upper part figure 2, and a one-piece back - at the bottom.
Patterns of fabric folding are shown in Figure 2 in "bubbles".
Please note: we simply lay the shelf at a distance of the width of the warehouse from the fold of the fabric.
When the warehouses are laid, swept up and ironed, we will put the shelf pattern on the shelf and adjust the neckline.
In the same way, one opposite warehouse is performed in front - the shelf is laid indented from the fold of the fabric to the width of the warehouse.
Now palet's look at the implementation of the warehouse from the neck on a different children's basis (figure 3a).
First, we will transfer the tuck to the neck.
To do this, we will make a cut in the place where the warehouse should be (figure 3b) and connect the lines of the former tuck end-to-end with adhesive tape. Ready - figure 3c.
On this you can limit yourself and cut out a dress without further tricks. But you can go furtherpicture 4).
For example, add another crease along the half-skid.
Since the folds formed by the tuck will be one-sided, and the middle one will be opposite, its width will be double when compared with the tuck solution.
The layouts are the same as in the first case: either with a middle back seam, or with a solid back.
In conclusion, let me remind you that you can process the neck and armholes turning or turn over.
