4. How to cut a dress with mitts and a hood according to the finished pattern

Before cutting, you need to decide:

1. Will the dots, mitts and hood be double or single;
2. Mitts will be with a thumb or with a hole for it.

With apparent complexity, cutting is very simple. It is only necessary to lay out the patterns in the most economical way and observe the direction of the shared thread.

Seam allowances are not required if you are sewing with knitted seam.

Consider cutting small and medium sizes on fabrics 140 - 150 cm wide (picture 2). As you can see, there are no difficulties - the shelf, back, sleeve and a pair of pocket burlaps are cut out from one fabric, small details and the second pair of burlaps are cut from another.

On the 3 drawing an example layout is shown on a 180 cm wide fabric. A large size layout on a 140 cm wide fabric will have a similar appearance - fold the fabric across or without a fold - fabric in one layer.

In more detail, the shelf, back, sleeve and burlap of the pockets are shown in  3 drawing at the bottom and the fabric is folded in half. In this case, the fold is located perpendicular to the edges, that is, along the transverse thread.

Small details are cut out from the companion fabric - on 3 drawing above - they are laid out on a fabric that is spread out in one layer.

After cutting, we make a notch for the pocket along the intended line, folding all four side cuts together. Notch length 0,5 cm.

5. How to sew a hoodie dress with mitt sleeves for beginners

Before you start sewing, adjust the knitted seam on the overlocker and decide what machine stitches will you use for sewing knitwear

Of course, the processing method will depend on whether the small parts are double or single.

The simplest processing option in the product is described below, when the open sections of the dress are processed with a decorative machine seam.

1. Assemble the shelves - sew on the overlock stitching, iron the seams down.
2. Assemble the back - sew on an overlock stitch, iron it. Stitch the middle seam, if the back is with a seam, iron it.
3. Stitch the burlap of the pockets to the side seams of the front and back, following the notch. For accuracy, you can sew in a narrow zigzag.
4. Stitch shoulder seams with a shared strip of thin knitwear, iron the seams.
5. Sew sleeve on overlocker , distributing the eyelet evenly along the armhole and iron the seam.
6. Process the bottom of the product with a decorative machine seam of the “goat” (“cross”) type.
7. Stitch and iron the side seams.
8. Process the mitts. Open sections are processed with a decorative machine seam of the "goat" type.
9. Process the hood.
10. Fitting. When trying on, you should specify the length of the sleeve with mitts and the width of the sleeve, based on the width of the mitts.
11. Sew on the hood.
12. Attach mitts.
