Photo of a do-it-yourself jumpsuit in large sizes according to a do-it-yourself patternImportant notice! The fabric should be thin enough, as the layering of the product will make the seam at the waist thick enough.

Thin, but dense silk or thin knitwear with little stretch are the best options. For a casual summer option, you can use a thin natural staple.

The consumption of dark fabric will be from 270 to 320 cm.

Red fabric consumption - up to 120 cm.

This is with a width of 140 - 150 cm.

3. How to cut an elegant jumpsuit for a woman according to a finished pattern

How to cut an elegant jumpsuit with pockets according to a finished patternAs usual, we start by checking the measurements of the length of the trousers, the length of the back, the length of the front and the length of the sleeve with patterns.

After completing the correction of the length of the patterns, you can start cutting.

Since this model of overalls has two asymmetrical details, we will cut from the “dark” fabric by laying the fabric in one layer with the wrong side up (picture 2).

Please note that the jumpsuit can be cut with or without pockets. For cutting with pockets, you can immediately cut off the “barrel” of PP along the line of entry into the pocket, as shown in picture 2.

Seam allowances 1 cm. Exceptions: on the bottom of the trousers - 2 - 3 cm; at the waist of the trousers, along the armholes and the sprout (neck of the back) allowances are NOT added; along the cut of the entrance to the pocket - 0,5-0,7 cm.

Separately, it should be said about the allowance for the selection of shelves. Its width is 5 - 6 cm. When cutting, it is convenient to attach a strip of duberin of the required width to the shelf pattern.

The allowance along the bottom of the bodice deserves special attention - we add 3 - 4 cm. This allowance is needed only in order to easily and Cutting details of the second color for a two-color jumpsuit according to the patternperform a high-quality fitting of the bodice, taking into account the features of the figure and posture. After fitting it can be cut.

Fragments of the belt with a width of 5 - 6 cm are placed along the share thread. It is better if the belt does not stretch, as the stitching may burst when it is stretched.

Having completed the cutting, do not forget about the notches and markings of the semi-skid (the middle line of the product and the body), which will need to be combined during the sewing process.

Cutting red parts is not difficult (picture 3).

4. How to sew a jumpsuit with your own hands step by step

I'll start with some important points:

  1. The selection of the shelf - one-piece should be duplicated with a thin doubler, swept over and folded. Sweep it with large, up to 7-8 cm, oblique stitches. Do not try to iron it hard, there should not be a “rib”. Soft hem with an open cut - overcast and fold once. It will be enough to fasten at the waist and in the shoulder seam.
  2. Small folds on the PP and flying parts (an alternative to tucks) should “look” in different directions. On the PP - to the bow, on the flying parts - to the side seam. This will reduce swelling.
  3. Ironing is performed AFTER EACH OPERATION.
  4. Lightning - in the middle seam of the back-seat. The end of the zipper is not below the hip line. At the same time, it is not necessary to make a lightning from the top, that is, from a sprout. It will be more convenient if it starts from the level of the shoulder blades. In this case, the sprout can be processed with an oblique inlay.

Now the sewing sequence.

  1. Assemble the bodice. Sweep the zipper, sweep the shelf along the half-skid.
  2. Gather trousers with flyaway details. Assembly sequence: darts; sweep; sides of flying parts, not reaching the bottom; bow; connect the PP and flyaway parts in the pocket area temporarily and process the pockets; side seams; on the waist of the PP and flying parts (half-skid and bow must match); step seams; seat to zipper; baste a zipper for fitting.
  3. Try on the bodice: put on; tie with a linen elastic band; outline the waist line according to the figure; outline the armholes according to the figure; try on a sleeve; cut armholes to fit; put on and outline three points of joining armholes and sleeves; sweep in points (for a sleeve with a fit). For a sleeve without a fit, cutting the armhole is also worth it, you can also mark the points, the seam of the sleeve and the side seam should NOT be combined.
  4. Connect the bodice and trousers. On the allowances, stitch with a rubber thread so that the seam is exactly at the waist. In this case, the belt will not ride on the figure.
  5. Process the bottom. Process the belt.
