Wrap skirt fabric

• For sewing the "top" skirt, you can use any "wool". For example, for the demi-season option, you can take both dress "wool" and semi-drape (lightweight drape), thin boucle or tweed. For spring and summer, silk fabrics are suitable. Heavy silk, raw silk, jacquard, thick linen and even denim.
• In any case, it must be a stable fabric, stretch does not fit, except to use tight knitwear with very little stretch.
• Experienced tailors can make a lined overskirt if it is a luxury product. The lining should be very thin and not electrified. The lining should be cut according to the pattern of the “upper” skirt.
• The “lower” skirt will require a lace fabric with a scalloped border. Experienced tailors can also save the upper part of the skirt, which is not visible, from another, cheaper material. For example, from silk lining fabric or satin.
• Elastic lace fabrics can also be used to sew the “lower” skirt, as the stretch will give additional freedom when walking.
• Fabric consumption for the "top" is from 120 to 150 cm, depending on the size, with a width of 140 cm.
• The expense for the “lower” skirt (lace sheath) is from 80 cm, with a width of 140 cm. The expense can be more if the lace fabric has a large rapport and a large “motive”, since the bottom will have to be cut along the edge of the motive.
• If you use guipure with a lace scalloped edge, then the expense should be calculated along the edge along the width of both halves plus for processing.

Opening both skirts is not difficult.

For the “top” skirt, fold the fabric in half face to face, align the edges and place the cut parallel to the edge of the cutting table (fig. 2).

PP and RFP are stacked with a “jack”, taking into account the direction of the shared thread. In PP, the share should be parallel to the half-slip line.

Half-skid - the middle line of the product, which corresponds to the line of symmetry of a person and passes through the figure through the jugular cavity and the navel.

Seam allowances.

Side, middle seam and bottom - 1 - 1,5 cm; at the waist - do not add; along the line of the edge of the side - 4 - 5 cm. We will need this allowance for processing a one-piece selection and it must be duplicated with a shared strip of doubler or interlining.

The belt is cut out from the lunge of the fabric and can consist of two parts.

Belt width in cutting = 2 widths in finished form + 2 cm

Belt Length = Waist + 10 cm for the transition part (if the zipper is in the side seam)

Or

Belt length = cut length of the waist of the skirt with processed folds + 2 cm (if the clasp is in a smell)

Open a lace skirt from a lace fabric with edges (Fig. 3) - the fabric is folded along the width of the layout. In this case, the PP and ZP can be combined along the side seam. The belt is not needed in any case, but if the "lower" skirt is a separate product, it is better to turn over the upper cut.

How to sew a wrap skirt for beginners step by step

Consider the following options: a two-in-one skirt and two separate skirts - wrap and lace.

In any case, we start by assembling the "top" and "bottom" skirts.

"Upper" skirt.

We sweep away soft folds, carefully iron them, duplicate a one-piece selection. We overcast and iron it, we sweep it with oblique stitches up to 10 cm long. Overcast the side seams. Stitch the side seams. For skirts "two in one" you will need a fastener on the side - we sew a zipper.

Underskirt.

We grind and iron the tucks, turn over the middle seam and sweep it. If the fastener is on the side, then under it you will need to make a cutout and turn it around.

We carry out a fitting, on which it is necessary to determine and, if necessary, correct the amount of smell of the “upper” skirt; the volume of the “lower” skirt to determine whether a “spreader” slot (cut) is needed at the back for ease of walking.

After trying on - processing the belt and bottom.

The bottom of the "upper" skirt is processed "into a hem with an open cut" - overcast, fold, sweep, iron and hem.

For a wrap skirt, a belt is also made, but sewn onto an “unfolded” skirt. The ends of the belt are processed in the same way as in a skirt with a fastener in the side seam.

“Two in one” - the smell is swept up, the upper and lower skirts are swept along the waist section, while the half-skid and the middle seam of both skirts must match.

The belt is stitched like a regular skirt with a fastener in the side seam.
