4. How to cut a coat with a pocket of large and small sizes

Before cutting, it is very important to determine which style option you choose.

For example, you want to cut a coat from a double-sided drape and all the cuts will be open (raw). In this case, you don't need any hem and you only need allowances for the side seams and an allowance for the entrance to the patch pocket if you want the pocket not to deform.

For an unlined coat with an English-type collar, cut out along the shelf, for which the shelf pattern is cut along the marking line.

If a coat is planned without lining or with a lining, but with picks, then we use lining patterns for cutting the pick and facing for the sprout (sprout - neck of the back).

Let's consider the last cutting option, where there are both a pick-up, a facing, and a lining (drawings 2 и 3).

If the coat is unlined, then preference should be given to edging all sections. If the coat is on a detachable lining, then we process only what will be visible if the lining is lifted up - cuts in the area from the bottom to the waist.

Of course, in coats with a “closed” lining, cuts are processed only in very loose and loose tweeds and in styles with vents. This style has a slot in the side seam, so you can make the lining "closed", but those who find it difficult can make it "open" and fasten only in the area of ​​​​the slot.
