Cutting Description

The set of patterns for the "leather jacket" jacket includes the patterns shown on 1 drawing.

Before cutting, we compare the size of the patterns with the customer's favorite jacket. Pay special attention to the length of the sleeve, the length and overall width of the product.

This is necessary to choose the right size.

Straps, belts and facings for pockets are rectangles, so everyone can easily add any details to their product at their own request.

The manufacture of pockets is described in detail in the article "Frame".

Laying out the jacket on faux leather, denim, leather-look knitwear, and other fabrics suitable for the task looks something like 2 drawing.

In this case, the fabric, as usual, is folded in half face to face, the edges are aligned and parallel to the edge of the cutting table.

Please note: “the middle parts of the shelf” should be cut out 4 parts, that is, the pattern of the “middle part of the shelf” is laid twice.

The first time, the lobar thread should be parallel to the half-drift line. The second time, when this part acts as a selection, the share should run along the edge of the part.

The collar template is also placed on the layout twice. The first time - the "upper collar" - to the fold of the fabric, the second time - the "lower collar" - the share is parallel to the rake line.

Let me remind you that the rake is the visible part of the seam connecting the collar with an open neck.

For the rest of the patterns, the shared direction is along the part.

Seam allowances are technological, that is, convenient for processing each unit of the product.

Consider them in more detail.

All "vertical" cuts - 1 cm each. The neckline, sleeve hem and armhole line - are cut out beyond the stroke line of the pattern, which will be about 0,5 cm.

To the bottom - 3,5 - 4 cm. Along the edge of the side and the departure of the collar 0,5 - 0,7 cm. The cut of the collar and the middle seam of the lower collar - 1 cm.

The lining is cut according to the same patterns (picture 3).

At the same time, the patterns of the shelves and the barrel can be combined into one, and the sleeve can be cut across.

The seam allowances are the same, except for the middle seam of the back, along which a margin of 3-4 cm is given for the "slot-pocket".

The "pocket" is located in the area of ​​​​the shoulder blades and allows the lining to last longer.

If you want to cut a leather jacket like a “biker” (motorcycle) jacket, you should first cut the back pattern, as shown in picture 4.

This is necessary so that the lower part of the backrest pattern is cut out entirely.

Such a simple trick increases the strength of the jacket.

The layout of the "biker" jacket on artificial leather, leather imitation or denim is practically the same as the previous one (picture 5).
