Tulip skirt pattern

The model described in this chapter requires some sewing experience and is suitable for tailors who have already mastered the sewing of a straight skirt.

As you can see in the photo, this is a symmetrical wrap skirt, worn on the hips, so the designation "waist" in the drawings is arbitrary.

For tailoring, thin knitwear that retains its shape is suitable.

The fabric consumption will be two lengths of the skirt, that is, from 140 to 190 cm, with a width of 140 cm. Therefore, before buying fabric, you should make (print and assemble) a pattern and determine exactly the length of the product.

Cutting tulip skirts is extremely simple (Fig. 1). The fabric is folded in half across, the edges are combined. The pattern is located in the most economical way. In this case, the middle seam of the skirt is oblique.

The seam allowance is added only along the middle seam - 1 - 3 cm. The remaining sections are cut out beyond the stroke line. The pattern has already included an allowance for the cut of the bottom-smell of 2 cm.

We start sewing by sewing the middle seam (see the article "Machine seams"). After sewing, the seam must be ironed or ironed, depending on which line you have chosen for its processing.

Then warehouses are swept and grinded. Warehouse processing is shown in fig. 2. Of course, the line begins and ends with bartacks. Stitched warehouses (Fig. 2 a) are ironed as opposite ones (Fig. 2 b), that is, distributing the allowance of warehouses on both sides of the stitching line.

After the warehouse, we process the bottom: we overcast, iron, mark, weave and hem by machine or by hand (see the article “Machine seams: how to replace the stitching and overlock”. This article discusses various ways to process the bottom).

In the photo, the bottom is processed into a hem with an open cut.

Waist processing is done by turning (see "How to process the waist section of a skirt and trousers"). The details of the facing are cut out according to the product from the remaining lunges of the fabric.

At the end of processing, loops are sewn on the skirt, buttons are sewn on and the finished product is carefully ironed.
