How to replace the stitching (flat stitch)
One of the options is the goat stitch (Fig. 10). It can be used when sewing products from elastic fabrics, including for processing the neck and armholes.
The convenience of the “goat” stitch also lies in the fact that it looks the same from the front and from the inside.
Let's take a closer look at the neckline.
After basing, bend the processed section to the inside by 1 - 1,5 cm and iron.
We lay the “goat” line on the wrong side so that the open (unovercast) cut is located approximately in the middle of the line.
In addition, "toozlik" can be used when finishing any product made of dress fabrics, as a decorative stitch.

To do this, use one of the zigzag stitches (Fig. 15, 16, 17 or a regular zigzag at the maximum stitch width and length).
ConsistentThe functionality of processing the bottom with a hidden line is as follows.
Loose fabric can be pre-overcast on an overlocker (Fig. 11). Then, bend the cut inside out to the desired width (2,5 - 4 cm) and stab with tailor's pins (Fig. 12).
The folded part is folded under the product (Fig. 13), while the underside of the product itself and the underside of the overcasting line are visible if the cut was overcast.
Along the cut with andon the wrong side, a zigzag stitch is laid (Fig. 14), while the “teeth” of this stitch capture 1–2 threads of fabric at the fold.
As you can see, preliminary overcasting in this case is not necessary, since a hidden zigzag stitch in some cases can keep the cut from shedding.
How to replace overlock
What to replaceoverlock line
Modern pManufacturers of household sewing equipment, in addition to the usual zigzag, offer several types of overcasting seams.
С zigzag you are already familiar with the lines (Fig. 15, 16, 17). Please note that each of them can have a mirror version (Fig. 18, 19, 20).
The decorative function of zigzag stitches is clear, but besides decoration, each stitch can be used for specific tasks.

Rice. 20 - good to use for hemming the bottom in products that need to be protected from deformation (for example, a skirt made of cheap lightweight drape).
K zigzthe "Turkish" stitch can also be considered a-shaped (Fig. 21). In addition to the usual overcasting of fabric, it can be used to sew and overcast non-elastic fabrics at the same time.
For example: simultaneously sew and overcast the side sections of a blouse or wedge skirt.
In addition, a “Turkish” stitch can be used to sew a flat elastic band.
"Obmetface-to-face" stitches can also be separated into a separate group.
Overcasting (fig. 22) - resembles a hand overcasting stitch, except for overcasting cuts, it is used as a decorative stitch. Has a mirror version.
Overcasting inclined (fig. 23) - suitable for processing the edge of a tablecloth, bed linen or scarf. The open cut is bent, an oblique stitch is laid along it, the excess allowance is cut off. Has a mirror version.
Another overcast oblique (Fig. 24) - differs from the previous one in that it has two oblique stitches instead of one. Best suited for stretch fabrics. It is also used in working with terry cloth and loose knitwear.
And the reinforced overlock stitches complete the review of the edge stitches (Fig. 24). They can be used for sewing flat elastic, restoring lingerie and, of course, for overcasting.
