2.2. Description of the design of the tunic

Asymmetric trapezoid silhouette.

The back can be made in one piece, but it is better with a middle seam. The seam will provide a better fit and will give a small savings when cutting.

The sleeve is non-stop. The bottom of the sleeve can be processed under the cuffs, as in classic blouses and shirts. Length markings for short sleeves and 3/4 sleeves.

Collar - adjacent stand with markings for different collar heights.

2.3. What to sew a tunic with an asymmetric cut

Only thin double-sided fabrics are suitable for sewing this style.

The most suitable can be considered a thin shirting fabric, both plain and plaid or striped. The main thing is that the fabric is double-sided.

Very thin linen, shirt gauze, muslin are also suitable.

Fabric consumption with a width of 150 cm will be from 200 to 290 cm.

If you sew a tunic from fabric in a large cage, then 30 cm is added to the expense.

4. How to cut an asymmetrical cut tunic according to the finished pattern

How to cut an asymmetric trapezoid tunic according to a finished pattern (Figure 2)Despite the asymmetry of the style, cutting is very simple (drawings 2 и 3).

The fabric is spread in one layer, the patterns are laid out with the inscriptions up and in the most economical way, observing the shared direction.

Seam allowances - 1 cm. Exceptions - neckline, armholes and sleeve hem - allowances are not added to these cuts.

Another exception - at the entrance to the pocket, the allowance can be increased to 3 - 4 cm.

It is better to cut out the collar after processing the shoulder seams, not according to the size figure, but based on the length of the resulting neck.

An example layout for small sizes is shown in 2 drawing, for large 3 drawing

5. How to sew a tunic with your own hands at home

For sewing most shirting fabrics, it is worth using zaposhivochny (linen) seam

How to cut an asymmetric tunic large trapeze figure 3And for a product in which the wrong side is partially visible, the use of a sewing seam is the only possibility for clean processing.

Open cuts along the bottom are processed into a hem with a closed cut (double hem). Partially this can be done on the fixture, partly without.

The bottom of the sleeve ¾ is also processed into a hem, but you can process it with a cuff. Long sleeve will definitely require vent and cuff

The clasp can be treated like a spreader, turned or edged - your choice.

The sewing sequence is as follows:

  1. We start with the processing of darts and folds - stitch and iron down.
  2. We process the pocket. For a voluminous pocket, we sew a strip of fabric to the pocket, and then we grind the resulting workpiece according to the markup.
  3. Sew the middle seam with a linen seam, leaving 10 cm under the fastener.
  4. Process the fastener in the way you have chosen and the bottom of the back.
  5. Process the sides and corners of the sides and the bottom of the shelves into a hem. Finish the side seams.
  6. Finish the shoulder and side seams with a linen seam.
  7. Try on.
If necessary, trim the neckline and armholes.
  8. According to the results of the fitting, based on the length of the neckline, cut out the collar.
  9. Finish the collar.
  10. Sew in the sleeves, aligning the highest point of the eyelet with the shoulder seam and evenly distributing the eyelet along the armhole.
  11. Stitch the collar.
  12. Finishing ironing.
