How to sew an American Snow Maiden dress with your own hands

dress pattern of the American Snow MaidenWhen patterns of traditional costumes for Snow Maidens и Santa Claus were ready, I decided to offer regular customers clothing patterns american snow maiden dress.

A photo of a support group was chosen as the basis.

This dress is very easy to make by yourself.

For sewing, you will need a red stretch and fur with a non-glued base. Such fur can also be called stretch, it goes well with any type of knitwear and fur and is easy to process.

Stretch consumption will be about 1,5 m with a width of 1,4 m.

Fur consumption is about 30 cm.

How to cut an American Snow Maiden costume

It is very easy to cut this model (Fig. 1): the fabric should be folded in half, aligning the edges, and lay the backrest with a “jack”, and the sleeve along the edge.

If you will use when sewing knitted seam, then cut out the details, without seam allowances, but beyond the stroke line of the patterns. That is, so that the actual allowance is about 0,5 cm.

How to sew an American Snow Maiden dress1When using a zigzag and a regular overlock stitch, it is advisable to add an allowance of 0,7 - 1 cm along the side, shoulder and middle seams.

Let me remind beginner tailors: no seam allowances are added along the cuts of the neck, sprout, armhole and sleeve hem.

On the bottom, you can add 1 cm for processing, but you can not add. Who cares about this centimeter of length?

By the way, "sculpt a Snow Maiden with your own hands" without knitted seam a little more complicated.

Cutting the edges is carried out according to the same patterns as cutting the dress (Fig. 2). It is advisable to follow the direction of the fur indicated in the figure.

Sewing sequence.

We start by attaching a "zipper", if any. It should be noted that highly stretchy fabrics do not require fasteners at all.

If there is no “lightning”, we grind and iron the middle and shoulder seams.

Then sew on the sleeve. This can be done without first tucking in, as the dress pattern takes into account the desired fit.

And only after stitching the sleeves and ironing the seam of the armhole, we grind and iron the side seams.

Making the edge in the costume of the American Snow Maiden

How to sew an American Snow Maiden dress2Now it's the turn for the edge.

We connect its parts and apply accordingly: the edge of the sleeve on the sleeve, the edge of the bottom on the bottom, the neckline - on the neckline.

In this case, the “face” (fur) of the edge should be on the “wrong side” of the dress.

We combine the seams of the same name and cut them off with tailor's pins.

Then the edge is stitched in the usual, but not too wide zigzag.

We bend the stitched edge (Fig. 4 a), and adjust the allowance of this seam on the dress.

Ideal stitch for stitching - zigzag "troika".

Beginning tailors should know that we NEVER IRON the fur.
