How to cut and sew a headdress for the New Year's Cobra costume.
You will need 50 cm of "dark" fabric for the snake's back and 50 cm of "light" fabric for the snake's abdomen.
We also use regilin to strengthen the frame.
It is desirable to duplicate the back.
To add volume, you can use a synthetic winterizer.
The sequence of work is as follows.
We cut out the duplicate exactly to the pattern without seam allowances, but transfer the notches to it that we see on the pattern, glue the doubler on the “light” fabric and then cut out the abdomen with an allowance of 1 cm.
According to the details of the abdomen, we cut out the back and sintepon.
At the same time, we do not add an allowance to the synthetic winterizer and cut it out exactly along the contour of the abdomen, and for the back we add an allowance of 1 cm - 1,5 cm.
We put the same notches on the details of the back as on the dubbing and abdomen.
On the abdomen we adjust regilin according to the scheme in fig. 2, and on the details of the back we make an application or painting with fabric paints.
To the abdomen, you can immediately sew a gel gum (transparent) or adapt other methods of fastening.
For example, a baseball cap or other cap attached to the part of the abdomen will greatly facilitate the process of putting the cobra on the head.
In addition, before grinding, it is desirable to make and attach the tongue.
We baste the synthetic winterizer with large oblique stitches up to 5 cm also on the abdomen and grind the “top” and “bottom” of the cobra, combining the notches.
Attention! Our back is larger than the abdomen, so it must fit!
For tailors with a lack of experience, it is recommended to first sweep the parts to be sewn, aligning the notches.
Of course, you should leave a hole for eversion.
Because of the "skeleton" it should be large and should be done in the "hood" area.
When the cobra is turned out, we sew up the hole, fasten the teeth and eyes.
