How to cut a dress with a trapezoid geometry according to a finished pattern with your own hands

Cutting Features

1. Zipper in the middle back seam. This is another reason why a dress should be cut with a middle seam.
2. The second reason is the improved fit of the back.
3. Seam allowances are normal. We add 1–1,2 cm to the shoulder, side and middle seams of the back, as well as to the “vertical” seams of the sleeve. The sprout (back neck), neck, armholes and sleeve hem are cut out without seam allowances. On the bottom - 2,5 - 3 cm.
4. The lobar thread of the shelf is along the midline of the semi-skid, the lobar back is parallel to the midline, the lobar sleeve can be located both along the sleeve and along the oblique.
5. For convenience, cutting is best done in three stages: first we cut out the shelf and sleeve, then the back, and the collar - after connecting the shoulder seams and sewing the zipper.

Layout of patterns on fabric, cutting and how to sew step by step

1. First, lay out the fabric in a spread with the wrong side up, the edges - parallel to the edge of the cutting table.
2. We lay the pattern of the shelf, observing the shared direction and cut it out with the necessary allowances for the seams.
3. The lunge of the fabric remaining near the shelf is folded across, placing the fold at a right angle to the edges and cut out the sleeves.
4. Fold the rest of the fabric in half, aligning the edges and lay the back to the edges. We cut it out with the necessary allowances for the seams.
5. Collars will be cut later.
6. Now you can start transferring the markup to the shelf.
7. Please note that you will need all the marking lines to accurately assemble the folds.
8. Having marked the folds and half-slip, iron the vertical lines of the folds and fold the shelf, combining the vertical lines of the folds with the sloping ones.
9. In this case, the fragments of the half-skid, indicated in the figures by a large dotted line, must form a straight line, and the points indicated by crosses must coincide.
10. The upper part of the fold at this stage will protrude upwards beyond the neckline.
11. After laying the folds, cover them with large diagonal or cross stitches. After that, the folds should be ironed, and the fabric protruding beyond the neckline should be cut strictly along the neckline.
12. Shelves ready, move to the back.
13. Finish the middle seam and sew on the zipper. Stitch or at least sweep, iron and overcast the side and shoulder seams.
14. Finish the seams of the sleeves and bat the sleeves.
15. Now you can sample.
16. After completing the sample cut out the collarbased on neck length.
17. Overstitch the collar, sweep it up and sew it into the neckline.
18. Finish the bottom of the dress and the bottom of the sleeve.
