Cutting this fashionable curtain option (Fig. 1) is not difficult, but it puzzles beginners.
The sequence of making patterns is similar to the sequence of previous models, but it is better to perform them in full size.
Swag patterns
First you need to take measurements: the width of the product (we will use half, since our swag is symmetrical), the height is large, the height of the swag in the middle, the height of the deflection (the latter can be calculated).
After completing half of the drawing (Fig. 1), draw cut lines along the warehouse. Move the fragments of the drawing apart (Fig. 2 a) and circle on a new sheet of paper.
The options for increasing the swag are shown below: if necessary, increase the width of the product, for which the template is placed at the required distance from the fold of the fabric and parallel to it (Fig. 2 b).
And if necessary, increase the height of the swag, the pattern is laid at an angle to the fold (Fig. 2 c).
Swag is often supplemented with “tails” (Fig. 3), the patterns of which are also made in full size according to measurements of large and small heights, as well as the width of the part (Fig. 3 a).
The template of the part is cut into 3-4 petals and the fragments are moved apart in any way: flare + extension (frie. 3 b), extension in a straight line (Fig. 3 c), flare (Fig. 3 d).
Stages of cutting curtains such as swag
The layout and cutting are performed in two stages (Fig. 4).
The fabric is bent along an oblique line and a swag pattern is laid on it. Then it is cut out, the lunge of the fabric is unfolded and “tails” are laid, which can be the same or different shapes.
If the tails are of different shapes, the position of the “face” of the fabric must be observed.
There is only one feature of processing - the lower cut of the swag should be slightly fitted (pulled off).
