How to choose scissors

Vera Olkhovskaya

ScissorsBeginning tailors do not attach much importance to the choice of scissors.

They often use paper scissors, surgical, children's and even manicure scissors, not realizing that the use of inappropriate scissors leads to numerous difficulties and a decrease in the class of products.

What kind of scissors should you choose?

The most important criterion is ease of use.

It is better to choose scissors with different sizes of "rings", that is, one "ring" for the thumb, the other for the other four.

The hand should be comfortable to hold them.

The optimal blade length is 10 cm.

If you will not cut cloth, ratin and other very thick or dense fabrics, then this blade will be enough.

Scissors with large blades are not so easy to use and, moreover, can be replaced with electric scissors or knives if necessary.

You should also not choose scissors made of heavy steel, as light ones are more convenient.

When buying scissors, you should check: their ends must converge very accurately.

But the main test should be done on fabric.

To do this, take two or three pieces of fabric from home - very thin (for example, chiffon), very thick and dense (for example, old-fashioned cloth or overcoat), you can grab a thick jeans.

When checking, make a pair of long (for the entire blade) and a pair of short (0,5 cm) cuts on each tissue sample.

The incisions must be made without effort, without effort or concentration.

If the scissors "do not chew" and cut everything, then you can safely buy them.
