Anna's story

I have been in the sewing profession for over 20 years. She graduated from an ordinary vocational school with a degree in "tailoring of men's, women's and children's outerwear", that is, a real couturier by profession.

Distributed in the luxury studio of the company "Elegant". We had such a state-owned company in Kryvbas in Soviet times (Note by Olkhovskaya: more precisely, a network of high-class ateliers).

Earned - a penny. And not because she did not know how to sew - the prices were beggarly.

In the 90s, Elegant ceased to exist, and I began to work at home. It is good that the house is your own and is located conveniently from transport.

The firm sold the equipment very not expensively. I bought a station wagon, an overlocker, mannequins (male and female), an iron and some stock.

At that time, a quality stock was impossible to get. Got into debt. My mother-in-law helped pay.

Now my daughter and mother-in-law work with me in my small home atelier. We live not luxuriously, but, as they say, no worse than others.

Our Ukrainian designers follow the events in the fashion world and outrage. We cannot find decent words to describe the impressions of their collections.

Previously, there was no such profession as a “clothes designer” at all. There was a fashion cutter, but this category still had to be earned! They took into account both education, and work experience, and "deflections" under the authorities.

I didn’t have time to grow up, although there was a desire, since “Elegant” broke up and there was simply nowhere to get such a category. And so she remained a tailor of the 5th category for the rest of her life.

Well, about myself, everything seems to be. I want to tell another story.

I studied then at a vocational school and our master took us on an excursion to a fashion designer Sergey Byzov. We were crazy excited.

How everyone wanted to copy styles or at least an element of his collection!!! We all immediately wanted to reach his level and become fashion designers!

Then we, the green girls, did not pay attention to the fact that a whole team of modest, round-shouldered aunts of indeterminate age sewed these magnificent clothes for the Krivoy Rog “nobility”.

We were to become such aunts. And this is the ceiling.

Well, it's understandable. Who are we? Children from incomplete families, children who are “pulled” with their last strength by early aged mothers ... And he is the son of the rector of the largest institute, a rich, influential and respected person.

Do not think that I want to pour dirt on someone, but I want to say two things.

First: initially, the chances at the start are not equal. If parents have not achieved something in life, then the chances of children are automatically reduced.

Sergey Byzov has an institute (Olkhovskaya's note: I think it's about education - he is an architect), a Fashion House built according to his own design and a surname. We have vocational schools and "leaky pockets".

The second thing: behind the designer there is always a team of highly skilled cutters and tailors who embody their "crazy" ideas.

Recently I remembered visiting Byzov’s Fashion House and thought: “why can you hear him? and where are his tailors now?” I heard it went out of style. It's a pity. He is a really talented person.

I consent to the publication of the letter.

With uv. Anna.
