Free Kangaroo Pattern

In fact, a set of free patterns for a kangaroo backpack is only a pattern of a back that supports the baby and a pattern of a soft lining. The pattern of the back goes into a loop, and the straps (strips of fabric, therefore, not included in the set of patterns) perform the rest of the functions - they insure and unload the mother's spine.

The photo shows the simplest and most minimalist version of a baby carrier, which you can provide with additional straps and straps, pockets and bibs.

You can also add an extra padded insert to your backpack to carry your newborn baby - it's a rectangle with two rounded corners. The optimal dimensions of which are 50 by 50 cm. And, since doctors do not recommend carrying a child upright until six months of age, this backpack with additional straps will allow you to carry your child horizontally.

A kangaroo backpack can be sewn from any dense and durable fabric.

For example, from dense denim, linen or velveteen (as in the photo). It is important that the fabric does not contain stretch fibers.

Inside the "back" of the product, an ordinary furniture paralon, sieves are inserted.

How to cut a backpack

Before cutting, you should decide whether you will use special braid and accessories instead of the cloth straps shown in the photo. And do you need an additional cardboard insert for rigidity. If needed, it is cut out in the form of a foam insert and requires an additional pocket of the same shape, but with processing allowances and “zippers” so that the insert can be easily removed when washing.

The pattern made in a turn is laid on a fabric folded in half in such a way that the lobar and middle lines of the pattern coincide. Cut without allowances. You should get two parts of the backpack itself and you can move on to the straps.

When cutting the straps, it is very important to place them in a shared line and, if possible, avoid additional stitches, that is, the strap must be intact or reliably duplicated in the places of additional stitches when sewing.

Webbing Wide: Width (with seam allowances) 1,2 - 1,5 cm) - 18 см, length 2 m 50 cm, 1 piece is cut out.

The narrow part of the strap: width 8 - 8,5 cm, length 1 m 70 cm, 2 parts are cut out. For the narrow part of the straps, you can use a special braid.

How to sew a kangaroo backpack with your own hands

Turn and turn the details of the back of the backpack, lay the finishing line along the edge.

Place the foam piece and secure it with two vertical machine stitches or by hand piercing through the bag. If you want to strengthen the backpack with a cardboard insert, then it is better to make an additional pocket for it so that you can pull it out when washing.

Further. Bend and iron the allowances of the “tail” of the product, then bend the “tail” into a loop - fold from the end about 20 cm Fasten securely with machine stitch.

Narrow straps (if you do not use a special braid). Lay the details on the ironing place inside out, bend the allowances to the middle (1,2 - 1,5 cm) and iron them. In this case, allowances should be bent along the part and from one end. After that, bend the parts along and iron them again. Lay a basting with a securing stitch at a distance 0,5 см from the edge. The final stage is the finishing line on 0,3 см from the edge.

The wide part of the straps is also ironed. After that, it is applied to the prepared bent loop, combining the middle points, and basting, and then adjusting the lower layer of the strap.

In the process of sweeping, pads made of foam rubber or fallofiber are inserted into the strap. First, in the middle part, then in the parts that will be on the shoulders of the parents. The ends are arbitrarily tapered so that the transition to thin straps is smooth. The finishing line is laid on 0,3 см from the edge.

The final operation is the adjustment of the straps on the back.
